Bought a Polaroid Flash for a Nikon D100? How can I connect it and make it work?

I Have a nikonD100 SLR, I bought a Polaroid Pro Slave Flash. I put the batteries inside the flash and mounted it to the camera, but the flash doesnt work and was wondering if it was the flash or do i need to do something on the camera menu to make the flash work on my camara?
