How do you punish/compromise with teens that disrespect you?

The only thing that I can think of is to make them write a report, or do some kind of work. If one person "screws up" make everybody work. That will cause them to discourage each other to "screw up" If they behave, at the end of the week you can do pizza or bagels or something like that.
